Designed to flow effortlessly from the home, the rear garden of this Randwick home extends living outdoors, creating a seamless connection between interior and exterior. Carefully designed to maximise both privacy and functionality, the space transforms when the doors are open, allowing the garden to flow naturally into the home’s daily life.

An interlocking canopy of Lagerstroemia indica ‘Natchez’ provides dappled shade over the entertaining areas, introducing seasonal colour and softening the edges of the garden. Beneath the canopy, drifts of underplanting anchor the space, with a considered mix of textures, forms, and heights adding visual interest, structure, and cohesion throughout the year.

The outdoor BBQ area has been integrated as a central hub for entertaining, connecting seamlessly with the home and offering a functional, stylish space for alfresco dining. Comfortable seating and layered planting frame the area while maintaining a sense of privacy, allowing guests to gather around the BBQ without disrupting the flow of the garden. A custom concrete bench provides a quiet spot for reflection or conversation, softened by surrounding plantings of Olea europaea ‘Swan Hill’, Rhaphiolepis indica ‘Oriental Pearl’, and Elaeagnus ebbingei. Climbers such as Beaumontia grandiflora and Ficus pumila enhance vertical surfaces and screen boundaries, adding greenery that integrates seamlessly with the garden’s overall composition.

Throughout the space, carefully considered spatial planning, a soft, natural colour palette, and layered planting ensure year-round visual appeal and practical functionality. The result is a cohesive outdoor environment that genuinely feels like an extension of the home offering a tranquil retreat for everyday living, a sophisticated backdrop for entertaining, and a garden that evolves with the lifestyle of the household.

Client Testimonial

‘We couldn’t be more thrilled with the outdoor space that the Pepo team has created for us. It brings so much joy all year round and has quickly turned into our favourite “room” in the house. Nic, Erica and the team laboured over every detail and it shows in the finished product. We feel very lucky to have this incredible outdoor oasis.’
