Recevied the winning award for 'Residential landscape design between $40,000 and $100,000' at the Australian Institute of Landscape Designers and Managers, Landscape Design Awards 2010
The existing site was not much more than Buffalo grass and Grevillea robusta when we first arrived. The microclimate was hot, dry and windy making the garden an unpleasant place to be. A magnificent, existing Jacaranda mimosofolia anchors the sweeping path running past mounded, mass planted garden beds.
This water sensitive cottage garden has a distinct Australian character with the use of rustic steel sculptural wind breaks, silver and rust coloured plants, locally sourced sandstone, Nepean pebbles, and a railway sleeper clothes line. The addition of large, mixed planting beds, protected reading nook, an outdoor eating space under the Jacaranda and substantial vegetable and herb garden has enabled the clients to enjoy more time in their garden.
