Nicola recalls, “Our client was pregnant with her second child when we started the design process, the house was in the final throes of a renovation that opened up the back, so their garden needed to become another room at the back of the house. They also had a fantastic children’s cubby house, so we had to find a spot for that, and there were large trees that had to be considered. The kids cubby was repositioned, and a planter box was built for the enormous palm. It was constructed from bricks, rendered, and then capped with bull-nosed graphite so it could double as a seat adjacent to the crushed granite entertaining area." Nicola's considered placement of all the garden beds, coupled with soft design lines saw the Jacaranda tree slip seamlessly into its role as a “feature”. Plants were chosen to provide a sub-tropical feel, along with being low maintenance.
